Paranormal Erotica, 2015
Her Horny Roman General is the genuine sequel to The General’s Virgin Slave – same main characters, continuing story line – so it is mandatory reading if you like the main characters and want them to have a happy ending. If you have read the previous book, you’d know that they did not have a conventional happy ending in that one, and if you haven’t read that book, you should read that one first before you tackle this one.
So, Amanda Adams is now back in Bath in her present time, while her lover General Marcus Cassius is still in first century Bath. Having surrendered the cherries of every orifice in her body to that man along with her heart, Amanda is now blue and wonders how she’d ever move on in life without that big, huge, throbbing… er, handsome, strapping man in her life. Hilariously, the ruthless Roman general appears the most lovelorn of the two, as Marcus generally pines away for his missing sex slave/sweetheart. He can’t get into the mood for replacement virgins in his harem, and we all know that erectile dysfunction is the purest form of true love in the universe.
Meanwhile, Amanda is shaken when an exchange student, Marcus Casolletti, shows up and starts pawing at her while making really inappropriately sexual remarks at her, just like some stereotypical new adult wannabe-hero. Naturally, she finds all that horny octopus act really sexy and starts seeing him as a reminder of all the forceful priapic invasions she used to enjoy.
Meanwhile the tiny car was bouncing up and down as her friend Chrissy tried to fit his luggage, and that of his pal, into the cramped boot. The motion was very similar, Amanda realized, to being rocked in the bed of General Marcus Cassius as he fucked her up the arse. That was her first night in his bed, when he was still savoring her virgin state, of course.
With all this romantic tension in the air, can Amanda bring herself to believe that this Marcus is somehow her Marcus from that other time?
Despite the awful title, Her Horny Roman General is actually pretty “serious” in the sense that the author actually wants to tell a story instead of just throwing in farcical bedroom scenes. There is actually some kind of method to her madness here, as she tries to craft a tale that reunites Marcus and Amanda in manner that attempts to be sweet and romantic as well as anally and vaginally fulfilling for both characters. Unfortunately, I have read this story three times – and enjoyed each moment pretty much, thanks for asking – and I still am not too sure as to what just happened to bring about the happy ending. I think the author has gotten ahead of herself a little here, and what she may believe to be crystal clear ends up still being somewhat hazy to more obtuse readers like myself.
Still, these two finally get their happy ending, so it’s kind of sweet, really. I won’t call this story amazing – this one and the previous story definitely qualify as naughty guilty pleasures – but somehow the characters manage to get under my skin. The author displays an appealing appreciation for the absurd, as she can cheerfully poke fun at the more ridiculous aspects of this story without making the whole thing seem too absurd in the process. I don’t see how these two are going to last for long, but who cares? These two would probably have fun to the bitter end, and that’s not a bad thing at all. Now, let’s see what other wholesome fun stuff this author has in her back catalog…
