Historical Erotica, 2019 (Reissue)
Natasha Blackthorne’s Waltz of Seduction was previously published by Ellora’s Cave back in 2011.
I don’t see any indication anywhere that this current edition had been revised or expanded, so I’m just going to go with this being a reissue. I’m sure someone will let me know should this be in error.
Lady Sara Lockhart wants it. She wants it bad. She wants it everywhere.
Unfortunately, her husband Colin believes that one should always decorum in bed, so no matter how much he wants to let his hair down, he must only thrust gently and prudently for the sake of begetting an heir and nothing else.
What will she has to do to get him to ravish her like she wants to be ravished?
Now, I give this one two oogies, not because the writing is terrible. It isn’t, far from it, as the author seems to have a way with saucy conversations and scenes. It gets two oogies because this story is too short, and hence, the resolution feels like something slapped on in a bewildering and abrupt manner because everyone involved in this thing has given up on it or something.
Frankly, Colin has a stick up his rear end for so long that I’d be happy to read about Sara getting it on with a fun boyfriend instead. However, I suppose it has to be her husband or else, given the genre. A pity, that, as I’m sure even a toy shaped like a pee-pee would bring more fun to the boudoir than everything about Colin ever could.
Perhaps if this one had been longer, I could warm up to the story, especially if the author would present some steamy slow burn seduction story. In its current length, it’s like having a lover that tantalizes with long-drawn steamy foreplay only to last five seconds when it comes to the grand finale.
The last bit is the deal breaker, so no matter how much I think the author shows promise in delivering the hot stuff, in this instance, I’m doing the equivalent of a left swipe.
