If you play a drinking game where you take a sip every time someone “sneered” in this book, you’ll be hospitalized by the time Queen of the Burning Fields ends. Three books down, nobody has managed to remove that cattle prod that is clearly shoved up Danny Lee’s rear end. Mara Lee still operates on the assumption that the heroine behaving as if she’s on LiveJournal blogging about hating everything and everyone is the behavior of a “kick-ass urban fantasy sex goddess”.

Danny Lee is back, people, and she’s even more dyspeptic as ever. Here, she’s still with her love-hate thing with Alex, her Alpha. Alex loves her badly but she’s like, hmm, let her think about that again. Asmodai, the big bad dude from hell, considers her his queen because she’s, like, so special and all, hence the title of this book. A bad guy wants to cause problems in this story, but the bulk of the tale is devoted to the ongoing soap drama between Alex and Danny.

Hmm, I have nothing to say here that haven’t already been said in my reviews of the previous books in this series. Let me just add that if Danny isn’t such a seriously annoying juvenile thinks-she-know-it-all stompy little bitch type, I may actually begin to like this series.
