Night Whispers by Karen Sandler
This one has its ups and downs, but man, the thing the author does at the end. That is mean.

The whole thing can be quite a mess of a soap opera, but I can’t say it is boring.

The heroine is quite the passive, hapless damsel in distress, isn’t she?

It’s all sweetness and fun until the author drops the ball with the ending.

Everything is so sweet and nice – probably too much.

Wicked is great, when it feels this good. It’s hard to overlook some fundamental issues here, though.

The hero is an incompetent buffoon, which makes this otherwise enjoyable story a bit of a head-scratcher.

All the secondary characters here are far more interesting than the hero and the heroine. They are fun, but still…

This is a boring, maudlin mess, but a strangely fascinating one nonetheless.

First books getting reissued often never go well, but the author manages to do this mostly egg-free on the face.
