Meet Craig. He is a frequent visitor to Rottmucker’s Wax Museum, especially the horror section where he’d chat with the wax statues of vampires, werewolves, and such like they are best of friends. I’m sure grown-ups will say this boy needs therapy, but hey, this is a kiddie show and kids will probably find this kid adorable for all I know.

Not that the kid is a saint, mind you, because he gets grumpy when he is made to pay up to enter the museum under the new management and acts like an entitled brat. It also doesn’t help that this kid is drawn like a teenager but his voice is clearly that of a squeaky six year old’s.

Oh yes, the museum is under new management because the owner has died. The lawyer, Boswick, announces himself the new owner of the museum but not if Craig had anything to say about it. He knows that Rottmucker would leave the place to the genial manager William, he just knows it!

Whoa, this episode just drags on for what seems like an eternity. Craig tries to pull tricks to scare Boswick and his crew away, and that one just goes on forever. When the predictable twist of the wax statues coming to life is revealed, my reaction is basically, well, about time. The episode heavily foreshadows this by having William and Craig repeatedly mention the possibility that these statues are alive and can even eavesdrop on their conversations, and then takes its own sweet time to deliver the obvious. Talk about an annoying tease.

At any rate, this is a predictable episode right down to the denouement that can be seen coming the moment it begins, and it also boasts an annoying know-it-all brat that is just not likable in any way. Then again. I’m not the starry-eyed kid this show wants as its audience, so what I do know, eh?
