Well, after Jessica got fired by the end of the previous episode, she is invited to join the Superhuman Law division of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway.

Naturally, instead of being grateful, she moans and whines like some postmodern entitled narcissist, complaining that she really doesn’t want to be basking in the adulation of women as well as men of certain sexual persuasion and color. White men, naturally complain about her antics because every woman involved in the writing of this show has issues with white men white men are all toxic POS, am I right, gurls?

Let’s overlook the fact that Jessica will later can’t get a job at all until Holden Holliway, a white man, offers a job in a lovely parallel to how the white man in Disney offers all these strong and independent “I don’t need a man to be successful” diversity hires a job at this show.

Back to the episode. Nikki suggests that maybe Jessica can be part of the Avengers but our she-hag scoffs at that idea. As she tells Nikki, she didn’t go to law school to be a hero and rack up six figures of debts because that gig is for “billionaires and narcissists, and adult orphans for some reason”.

Yes, such lines pass for humor here, with the writers completely missing the point that the real punchline here is that they are actually sticking Jessica inside a greenhouse and letting that particular narcissist hurl boulders of wine mom toxicity at the glass walls.

No, these writers are deadly serious, just like Jessica telling Nikki that the Avengers gig is not to be considered even once because they don’t have healthcare, maternity leave, pension, or even salary. Yes, because saving the world is just a waste of time.

Do these writers even watch a second of the MCU shows? Do they even know what they are doing? Something tells me that the answers would be depressing.

Also, why are the lawyers in this episode calling a mistrial a “loss”? A mistrial means having to redo the whole thing again, it’s not a loss. Furthermore, why is Jessica fired for “being a liability” when she is in the news for saving the members of the jury? She’s a DA, that will be great publicity for these people.

Basically, this episode spends half its run time showing Jessica moping and getting rejected by other law firms for being such a “liability”—I’m sure it has nothing to do with her being a crap lawyer that doesn’t know the difference between a mistrial and a loss, or with her sunny personality—when she’s not doing “funny” physical comedy like walking into glass doors or falling off a stool.

Eventually, GKK&H hires her to represent Emil Blonsky… the villain from the disowned The Hulk from 2008 that I really should get to review one of these days. Wait, does this mean that the MCU finally acknowledges the existence of that movie? Bruce here does say that he was “a different person” (snort) when he went up against Emil back then, after all.

At any rate, this episode ends with Jessica getting a new job and a new client, with Bruce’s blessing. I’m surprised I’m still alive after having experienced all the cringe and unfunny comedy heart-pounding excitement of this episode, I tell you.
