After the events of the previous episode, Steven Grant gets fired at the start of Summon the Suit. Well, that’s probably for the best as those relics are too precious to become collateral damage when disgruntled avatars of Egyptian gods compete to see whose psychiatric issues are far more all-encompassing.

Grant learns that his talking reflection is actually Marc Spector, a far more capable action hero personality of his, and he also meets Layla, Spector’s wife.

Spector is far more capable than Grant, but because he’s still just a reflection, it is up to the bland Layla to save Grant from more problems caused by Harrow.

This episode is an extension of the previous episode, in that once again, Grant is running around looking like a lost and scared goldfish while Harrow is all muah-ha-ha-ha. Everything is exposition postmarked to Grant, with occasional chase scenes and a costumed moment to remind me that this is still an MCU thing. Khonshu delivers another heavy-handed ultimatum, and Mr Isaac shows off that he can do two different accents.

I feel like I’m the Queen of Hearts while watching this episode. Since Mr Isaac is cute, I won’t exactly say off with his head. The show so far has been a fast-paced effort to throw layers after layers at me, however, and sadly I can’t feel arsed to care as the characters are bland and I am not given any reason to get emotionally invested in their story.

Grant is a pretty one-note confused character, and the secondary characters are more one-note. The action scenes aren’t interesting or successful in generating any thrill or tension, and I’m bored.

Dare I hope that things will pick up soon?
