Arnold Marvello, owner of a fast food empire that is expanding into Paris, wants restaurateur George Greeves’s establishment shut down ASAP. He’s already sleeping with George’s affair Sophie, mostly as a means to gain inside information that will give him an upper hand over the other man. Not that he has to work too hard, as George isn’t very smart and is pretty bad at keeping a business profitable.

Our cunning little weasal, alas, is having health problems. His major organs, such as his kidneys and spleen, are breaking down. No matter, he’d make sure he’d get those organs too from George. I’m not sure how he knows that George is a compatible donor, but hey, this is all The Hitchhiker logic.

Part of Me infuriates me because, up until the last few minutes, this is a rock solid episode. The acting is solid, with Jeremy Clyde playing up a storm as a snot bastard that is so fun to hate. The rest of the cast isn’t too bad, and the guy that plays George is easy on the eyes.

The story itself is pretty basic and full of plot holes, but it’s as good as this shows gets, and I’m having fun…

… That is, until the twist comes up and has me blinking in confusion. What, donating an organ to a bloke means that you can now control that bloke’s actions? What is this, a bad Blumhouse horror film twist? I may be more receptive to that if it had been integrated more smoothly into the plot, but this one feels like it’s pulled out of someone’s unwashed rear end as a desperate attempt at introducing some kind of twist into the episode.

Had this episode been a straightforward crime and suspense thing, it would have been a pretty good one. Instead, the people behind this one suddenly introduced a twist that fits poorly with the rest of the episode and sends it straight down the toilet.

I always know the people behind this show are nincompoops, and this is prime evidence of that!
