Main cast: Bruce Ramsay (Jamie), Amanda De Cadenet (“Not Miranda”), and Terence Stamp (The Host)
Director: Howard A Rodman
Ooh, a young Bruce Ramsay is so hot when he plays a sleazy no-good POS. He looks the part, and he even has the appropriate swagger with his married lover whom he calls Miranda despite her repeated assertions that she is “not Miranda”. After all, he can call her whatever he wants.
Yummy yum yum—Jamie in a singlet, Jamie shirtless… okay, he may not be husband material, but he’s certainly good for an affair.
Okay, maybe not an affair, as in No Radio, he decides to kidnap her lover to get her husband to pay a ransom that will allow him to pay off his debts to a loan shark. Maybe a one-nighter instead?
This episode is a dull and joyless mess, though. Both Mr Ramsay and Amanda De Cadenet put on a pretty decent performance as persons that are not what they appear to be, but these two have zero chemistry.
Furthermore, the relationships between these two and her husband are not fully fleshed, so the twist at the end feels like it has been pulled out of the collective rear end of the screenwriters.
It’s not like there is an abundance of T&A to keep things interesting. Both characters briefly appear topless, but that’s about it.
All in all, this one would have been a complete snore if I hadn’t been busy admiring the sight of Mr Ramsay!
