Karen Black, Lena Headey, Daniel Craig… say what you will about The Hunger, but so far the caliber of guest stars as well as directors that it has attracted is pretty impressive.

Plus, Menage a Trois having the always desirable Daniel Craig playing the hot, rugged, and horny handyman is always a plus. You can’t go wrong with that hot handyman stereotype when it comes to these things, and Mr Craig exudes the whole white collar chad vibes so effortlessly. Okay, he looks like a prune now, but when he was younger, oh my, just look at him here.

Unlike his other slumming in anthology shows, he has some spicy scenes here. Sadly, those scenes aren’t exactly sexy as they are all part of the perverse theme of sexual domination in this episode, plus it’s not like I get to see anything here.

Anyway, this episode is based off a story by F Paul Wilson, and therein lies the rub: the twist of this story had been used and done by so many other stories and shows since that this episode doesn’t feel surprising in the least. It’s pretty obvious from the moment the episode begins.

Basically, we have Steph showing up at the elderly Miss Gati’s place to be the old woman’s live-in nurse. Miss Gati has a live-in handyman, Jerry, who quickly shows an interest in the new nurse, likely because she’s the only woman in the house that is below 70.

There is something off about Miss Gati, however, hmm. What is she up to? Can Steph find out before it’s too late for her?

Karen Black looks way too young to be playing an elderly woman, but she exudes the right amount of cool and polite malice to make her character a frightening centerpiece of the episode. Daniel Craig is here to look and be hot, a job he succeeds admirably, while Lena Headey gets to play both the cool and sensible nurse and the hungry horny hippo here.

The only issue I have here, aside from the overall predictability of the episode, is that there is hardly any erotic tension here for an episode of a show that is supposed to be all about the sexy stuff. This can be a problem because sexual intrigue and domination are central to the theme of this episode, so the lack of erotic build-up or anything like that makes this episode akin to coffee without cream. Some people may like that, but I’m led to believe that there should be plenty of creaming happening here, humph!

At any rate, this is a very watchable episode, especially with Karen Black stealing scenes and a young Daniel Craig making the world a better place by just existing on screens big and small.

It could be better, though. I mean, come on, Daniel Craig is not shy about showing everything, so I can’t believe that they didn’t make him do at least thrusting butt shot!
