Brad D Sibbersen’s Leprechauns. (Sigh) From Outer Space. will have some people foaming at the mouth because it contains many words that are blatantly considered offensive today, along with probably dozens more that would cause not a few people to scream that the author is all kinds of -ist and -phobe.

I’m of the school of thought that comedy has every right to be offensive, however, so I don’t mind these things.

However, I have no idea what I’m reading here.

I suppose it’s about leprechauns from outer space versus a bunch of drooling, mouth-breathing imbeciles. It begins with the appearance of a red rainbow, and poking around that rainbow leads to some haw-haw consequences.

The problem here is that I don’t haw-haw much while reading this thing. Oh, the author tries, as this one has plenty of slapstick comedy, rude words, and references to elements of popular culture here and there, but the comedy fails to tickle me even a little.

This is an issue because at the end of the day, comedy is what this thing has going for it. The plot is simply a vehicle for absurdity, the characters are caricatures meant to be over the top hilarious, and the overall thing is just comedy, comedy, comedy.

In a way, I guess this is like paying my way into a stand-up comedy show. It’s going to be a gamble, as comedy is subjective, and what makes one laugh uproariously may land like a wet rear end gas emission on another person.

So, this time, I lost the gamble, but who knows, maybe this one is a jackpot for another person. I’d suggest reading an excerpt first to test before buying.
