Doctor’s Orders is back to being about sleaze and trashiness, but this definitely not The Hitchhiker of the old days.

Sure, it has Shannon Tweed and she strips down to saucy black lingerie, so there’s something to look forward to if one likes that kind of thing. However, back in those days, she’d likely have shown more flesh.

Story-wise, this one will be familiar. Mayor Jake Purly runs on an anti-pornography platform, but oops, his brother has just made his ignoble debut in a sex tape. Remember, this is the 1980s, so the sex tape thing is not yet a stepping stone to great things in life.

This development also reintroduces sexy escort “Dr” Rita de Roy into Jake’s life, and the predictable “Ooh, me dark secrets are slipping out…” drama ensues.

The whole episode is on the predictable side, and even the bad acting has become rather rote by now. Yes, yes, politicians are scumbags and hypocrites, who knew, yadda yadda yadda.

If anything this thing reminds me of the below average episode right at home in the earlier seasons, but without the gratuitous over the top trashiness to distract the audience from how little else the episode has to offer.

Well, I suppose it does have something to offer to die-hard fans of Ms Tweed, but that’s pretty much it.
