Pale Immortal by Anne Frasier
Interesting take on vampirism here, but the whole thing feels underwhelming and under-baked.

The author is partying like it’s 1976!

Is this a romantic suspense or a competition to discover the biggest martyr?

The author tries way too hard to conform to conventions here. I am so heartbroken by the missed possibilities.

The annoying heroine’s pity party and martyr tendencies bog down what could have been a fabulous party.

This is supposed to be a romantic suspense but the main characters act like they are doing standup.

Now this is how one kicks off a new romantic suspense series. This one is fantastic!

Sex turns the hero into a colossal asshole that abuses his authority over the heroine. So… castration?

Unlike Stephanie Plum, the heroine in this one is too competent for a newbie. Neither extreme is believable.

I got this rip-off for really cheap at a sale. What’s your excuse?
