Don’t get too excited, people. Wet Down is a reference to a ceremony held to retire a fire truck, but I’m pretty certain Delilah Devlin wants everyone to think about that too.

Sherry Thacker is the new mayor of Caldera, but alas, her EA doesn’t think much of her ability to do her job.

Meanwhile, our heroine is somewhat mopey too because her husband Blake is in the process of divorcing her—something about her running for mayor made her too busy or something—but no worries, people.

In the space of a short story, she will have him back inside her l… life, and all that while making her come off as a bit of a flake when it comes to career.

I guess the lesson of the day is: ladies, don’t get too preoccupied with your career or your man will never love you 100%.

Okay, I’m a bit at loss as to what to say here. Sure, the sentences are in English and they seem to be grammatically in order, so I suppose that is a plus.

It’s a painless read, and I don’t feel any loathing or disgust while turning the page, so I guess that is in a way some kind of win.

However, the whole thing feels so trivial.

The couple’s romance is the embodiment of easy come, easy go and I’m not talking solely about the boinky moments, which to be honest feel more mechanical than anything else. If their romance can be resolved by a bump and grind, this makes the conflict and the characters embroiled in it such frivolous things.

Meanwhile, the characters are on the flat side, basically Slot A and Tab B, but that’s this story anyway in a nutshell. It’s something designed to get the readers off with utmost efficiency without petty distractions like plot and characterization.

Sure, that’s fine and dandy, but the stuff designed to get readers off feel so routine and 1-2-3, and moan and act like you mean it, finish.

It’s hard not to feel that there has to be more to sexiness than just a few minutes of perfunctory oohs and aahs.
