Morticia Knight’s Secret Fire was previously published by Totally Bound Publishing back in 2014. According to the author’s note, this edition has been revised but the core story remains the same as the 2014 edition.
Okay, the story. We’re in Mesa, where guys openly mooch on and rub their hot chiseled bodies against one another all to give the author a series, Uniform Encounters, to put onto the marketplace.
Fire Marshal Daryl Richards is known as a major grouch. Actually, he probably would be more cheerful had his heart not been stomped on hard by an ex letting another bloke eat from his cookie jar.
When he’s approached by hot cop Zach, he gets jittery. Is Zach asking him out of pity? I mean, sure, Daryl has rock hard abs and looks like a sex-flavored popsicle, but come on, who would want him, right? After all, his huge pee-pee isn’t that amazing, and his financial security is a no big deal. What could anyone see in Daryl?
Meanwhile, Zach is finally ready to settle down on his 30th birthday. Now that he’s had fun and racked up a body count as big as Daryl’s pee-pee, it’s time to find a nice guy to settle down with.
So they hook up, have BDSM for beginners sexy times, and generally have very few issues to deal with aside from Daryl acting like he’s an unlovable loser. Even that issue is eventually resolved when these two realize the obvious: Daryl is hot and everyone wants a ride on his fire truck.
Perhaps realizing that the story has been quite the snooze so far, the author finally adds in some drama to get everyone running around, yelling, and looking grim in a sexy hot man with stubble way, and then, finally, it’s a wrap.
Well, I… well. I don’t have much to say about this one because it’s kind of just sort of exist, if I am making sense here. It’s definitely serviceable and well written enough, but there is a lack of engaging suspense or romantic subplot to keep things interesting. The two men are obviously awesome together, and while Daryl whines now and then begging for people to validate his awesomeness, the whole thing reads like a sedate blow by blow account of two guys hooking up in a rather non-happening way.
Sure, there is sex, but come on, this is not my first guy-on-guy romance and I’m no longer that kid that screams “Oh my god! He’s putting his pee-pee up that man’s butt! This is so exciting!”… if I ever were that kid, that is. The sex scenes aren’t that hot to me, and they sure don’t keep me from yawning now and then as I turn the pages.
In the end, this story sure isn’t fiery. It’s alright, but at the same time, it’s so non-eventful that I can’t make myself feel the enthusiasm to recommend it to anyone.
