I love stories of females taking charge. In fact, if you ask me, we need to have more heroines who will not hesitate to give all those annoying whiny emo brats playing romance heroes in the genre some hard whacks in the backside.
Renny Johnson, self conscious about her weight, wasn’t the vixen her ex-husband Nicholas expected her to be, so he divorced her and started visiting sex clubs instead. When he decides to sneak into her house one night to retrieve an autographed baseball bat, she finally has him in her clutches. She will tie him up, demand answers from him, and… and…
Unfortunately, On His Knees isn’t exactly a “real” girls-in-charge fantasy, because the heroine is still vulnerable enough to let the hero possess the upper hand even when she’s had him tied up and all. In fact, many of the scenes seem suspiciously like the heroine meekly giving the hero the sexual services he seeks. Nicholas thinks he’s a submissive, and the author tells me that Renny is in control, but the more I read this story, the more I am starting to get this impression that Renny is the one who is meekly giving Nicholas what he wants. This is most likely because Renny doesn’t seem to enjoy doing what she does here. She’s not in a secure and confident enough state of mind to play a convincing Domme.
Oh well. This is a readable story, although Renny’s self-esteem issues get tedious to follow after a while, but I’m always going to be disappointed that this story isn’t the female dominant fantasy that I am led to believe it is.
