Headless Teacher is a good encapsulation of why I quit on Thai horror for the most part: cringe comedy. 

I certainly don’t mind comedy, but present day Thai horror is full of unfunny comedy that lazily relies on tired stereotypes. Here, it’s as if the people behind the show drew papers randomly out of a hat and got: overweight butch women, slapstick comedy, predatory handsome men, lascivious ugly old men, and dumb school kids that can’t stop screaming and shouting all the time.

Waiwan is the teacher in question: she’s played by a man acting like a drag queen in a club, mugging like the most stereotypical ugliest woman ever complete with grating exaggerated way of speaking and moving. Two annoying kids discover her headless body, and this body soon forces them to help her locate her missing head.

Naturally, this puts the kids on an investigative trail to discover the identity of the teacher’s killer. 

This episode gives me a splitting headache because too many people are shouting and screaming at the top of their voices. This, along with exaggerated falls and body movements, is passed off as comedy in this episode. The fact that it is also pock-marked with some of the laziest and unimaginative stereotypical characters only make this one more at the level of some drunk buffoon screaming incoherently on stage and the people in the audience laugh because they are all too drunk to care. 

Unsurprisingly, the plot is dumb, as it is just a half-baked vehicle to deliver all the ways to put an unsuspecting person off Thai cinema for good.

This is easily the worst episode of this show as well as of the other shows I’ve watched recently.
