Can’t Stop is about a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. Yes, that’s right. Someone really has to owe the band a big favor; that of David Fincher and Tim Miller must be big fans and decide that this is the best way to get the band to notice them.

Yes, this episode, a bit under seven minutes, is a recreation of the band’s 2003 concert, only with these guys and everyone else portrayed as marionettes complete with strings and the band’s infamous pee-pee stockings. There’s nothing deep or hidden here, just a concert that will either thrill fans of that band or make those that don’t appreciate the music scratch their heads.

Sure, the episode looks cool in a “Team America: World Police, but less disgusting” way, but it feels so self-indulgent to an almost offensive degree.

It’s just a way of the people behind this episode to show off their animation chops.

It’s a long MTV music video to reintroduce the band to kids that may not even be born in 2003.

It’s probably the result of the people behind this show getting too drunk or high and somehow lost a bet in the process.

What does it offer viewers, though? It’s not even an edgy interpretation of the band or the concert; it’s just some flashy, tame, and Funko-Pop’ed interpretation to make an already fake-edgy band appears even more sanitized to the present generation.

Unless one is a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers, this one is just one of the episodes in the fourth season of Love, Death & Robots, and that’s pretty much it. At least have one of these marionettes drop dead at the end from an overdose or something to make the episode worthwhile!
