Finn York, our hero, is obsessed with the werewolves of Wulf’s Den, now that he knows that they sprout hair and howl at the full moon. How did he know, you ask? His sister Billie married a 1,500-year old werewolf, and yes, that’s actually a good thing. Poor Finn has also been “injected” with the blood of Billie’s husband (don’t snicker, people), so now he’s also worried that it won’t be long before he starts getting the urge to lick at his own crotch. Besides, with a name like his, it is just a matter of time because he stars in his own “Honey, I Slept With a Thing of Another Species” skin flick.

Meet our werewolf heroine, Jocelyn. She waits tables at Wulf’s Den and in this story, she is soon doing the poochie with Finn. There are some superficial angst on Finn’s part as he tries to reconcile his feelings about werewolves with the fact that he’s doing the doggy with one, but that’s about it for the plot of this story.

Mated to a Wolf is not a story that you should read if you want big and meaty plots to go along with the drama, in other words. On the other hand, this is a clean and very readable story. The author has certainly cleaned up her prose. The balance between showing and telling in this story is still a little off as there is a tendency for Ms Chenery to resort to long paragraphs full of information dumping here and there, but the author is getting there, I feel, in this and her last few stories. Therefore, if you want a quick and easy read and you don’t mind the superficial plot and the abundance of familiar paranormal romance tropes, this one may just be the fix you are looking for.
