Good grief, it seemed like only yesterday when I last read and reviewed the author’s previous book. How fast is Marisa Chenery putting out those books?

Billie York, our personal trainer heroine, first encounters our hero Royce when she goes into the club run by the three werewolf siblings to drag her brother home to his wife. You know how it is with those furry heroes: one look at her, one sniff, one… whatever and he knows that she’s his mate. Sexy! Alas, Royce has been left brokenhearted before when his last mate-mate-mate thing didn’t go too well, so now he’s reluctant to approach Billie. When I say “reluctant”, I mean “wait for ten to twenty pages longer than typical to boff the heroine”. Meanwhile, some plot is present in the form of a big bad wolf wanting to use Billie as a pawn to get what he wants from Royce.

Billie is smarter than most of the heroines from the author’s previous efforts, which is good, while poor Royce does come off too much like a typical werewolf hero for his own good. The story doesn’t offer anything that deviates too much from what you may have come to expect from such stories, but on the bright side, the author has her characters speaking to each other more instead of merely dumping information on the reader in one go like she was very fond of doing in the past. There are still too many passive sentences here, I feel, and the story still could use more showing and less telling, but everything is still pretty good enough to make the cut.

Seducing the Wolf is a serviceable if predictable read. You will get what you think you will be getting from this story, so if you’re in the mood for furry loving redux, you could do worse than this.
