Find Your Way Under the Sea is similar to the other entries in the Find Your Way line,  so you’ll be moving from spread to spread solving a few puzzles, look for things, the usual.

This time around, some underwater creatures called the Merps need your help to travel from Merp Town to the Royal Quarter, where they are building a castle for their royal family. Don’t ask why the royal family can’t afford to hire movers or construction workers. Maybe these people just like seeing their serfs work and get into accidents because it’s fun.

Along the way, you do things, which on top of the usual time counting and coordinate-based navigation also include some odd things too, like clapping your hands 10 times and holding up seven fingers. Hmm, you just have to wonder whether this one is meant for a much younger reader compared to the other true. Indeed, there are fewer things to do on each spread too.

Still, there’s not much here to make this one better or worse than the other two gamebooks previously reviewed here, aside from the art this time around being far less interesting to look at. Perhaps it’s the undersea motive, but there are many too-similar elements on every spread, making everything look samey and monotonous as a result. Compared to the other two gamebooks, this one just isn’t as hot or fun to examine closely.

Anyway, all things considered, it’s a good thing you do the other gamebooks in this line first, or else you’d have an underwhelming introduction to this line!
