The first book in the series fumbled, but the follow-up delivers in spades.
This is a strong comeback from an author who has been away from the scene for a while.
As I said in the review, this is singularly one of the worst constructed books I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across.
I don’t know whether I want to applaud the heroine or cram a handful of soiled napkins down her throat. Mission accomplished by the author, I suppose?
The courtesan steals the show from the pirates – heck, she is the story, and what a story it is.
This is a good example of how stereotypical romantic elements can ruin a potentially good post-apocalyptic action tale.
