Now, don’t come at me, but the only thing I know about Warhammer 40,000 is that Papa Nurgle is the source of all happiness in existence. He is joy, he is love, and he is so huggable. As for the rest, I find it very forbidding to get into the complex and labyrinthine lore. That and the fans can be quite embarrassing to associate with.
So, I’m afraid I’m not sure what I am getting when I sit down to watch Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear. Something tells me that Papa Nurgle won’t be appearing in any shape or form, so I’m already bracing myself for disappointment.
This one is basically about a bunch of Adeptus Astartes tin cans on some mission that pits them and something something Tzeentch—ugh, having that bloviating know-it-all instead of Papa Nurgle is indeed a choice—and frankly, this episode is what it is. It won’t be giving me much insight into the setting, just some gorgeous graphics and animation about what seems to be every other day in the life of a Space Marine.
Is it an amazing episode to look at? Oh yes. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s smooth and sexy voice is just icing on the cake.
Does it make me want to know more about Warhammer 40,000? Not really, as this episode could have been some vignette or a segment from any generic sci-fi space caper to normies. Besides, I already know that Nurgle is the best, while Khorne, Tzeentch, and Slaanesh are just boring War God, Woo-Woo God, and Slut God respectively, so what else is there to know?
Buboes, phlegm, blood and guts! Boils, bogeys, rot and pus! Blisters, fevers, weeping sores! From your wounds the fester pours.
