John Carson died in one of the many skirmishes that took place during the American Civil War. But as the title Unfinished Business would suggest, he isn’t ready to move on to the great beyond. You see, he had promised his best friends and lovers Amber and Michael that he would go back to them, and now he’s determined to keep that promise.

If we have the rotting corpse of John Carson showing up at the doorstep of Bar-A Ranch just like in that creepy ghost story by WW Jacobs, this story would be really cool, heh. But this story is actually quite a delight in itself. I won’t spoil the ending, so let me just say that I like how the story turns out in the end. While I am not personally into the romance since it’s another paper-thin “Oh! I love you two equally! Let’s boink!” ménage à trois tempest in a teacup, I find the way the story unfolds provides enough inducement to keep reading.

This is a very short story, so don’t expect too much drama and depth. Still, John is a pretty cheeky fellow and the author manages to surprise me in this story, so that’s good.
