Vivian Arend’s Falling, Freestyle may be set on the cold ski slopes, but this is a contemporary romance. Sorry, there no werewolves fooling around in this one. There are, however, one woman and two men putting their imagination to good use when it comes to keeping warm in that place.
Dara Boring, Kane Cliché, and Jack Stereotype are best friends living in the snow-capped slopes of Generica. Because we need a way to tell them apart in the tangle of limbs, Kane is the dark-haired boyish one who is not so serious while Jack is the blond one who is more serious and who also looks like a Viking. She wants them both, they have always shared everything, so it’s time for – what else? – boinking.
That’s pretty much the story in Falling, Freestyle. These characters talk a bit, laugh in each other’s company, but most of the time they are boinking. Oh, and I think I should mention that the two guys don’t do anything with each other, despite the fact that they have no problems skinny-dipping together and what not. Sorry, girls, it looks like not all hot boys want to play with each other.
Light on details, character depths, and plot, Falling, Freestyle is a pretty good demonstration of why it is hard to take many ménage à trois stories out there seriously. Still, the author’s efforts in making the love scenes as long and explicit as possible should be commended. The extra mile elevates this story from being abysmally generic to being abysmally generic but hot.
