Keely Tate’s Do Bad Things is a spicier sort of contemporary romance, but it is also one of those stories that utilize an implausible premise to get the boinking started.

In this case, Grace Jamison poses as her sister to retrieve the truck of this sister’s ex-husband, without telling the sister first naturally. Her sister’s ex is keeping their kid away from her, so Grace’s bright idea is to let her sister exchange her ex’s truck for her kid.

Here’s where it gets really stupid. The truck is at our hero Jameson Wyatt’s shop—yes, Jameson and Jamison—and he lets Grace collect the truck without checking for any evidence that she has any right to the truck.

This leads to Jameson getting his paws and more on Grace, to teach her a lesson, but I can’t get past the fact that they just let Grace go off with the truck without even asking for her ID. I’m more surprised that there hadn’t been any lawsuits thrown his way by now, since it seems like anyone can walk in and lay claim to a vehicle in his shop!

The sex scenes are the saving grace of this thing, as outside of the bedroom, Grace is a typical “I’m reckless and impetuous and bitchy, and I do what I want, weeee!” type that comes off as more brash and annoying than anything else. Jameson appears to be someone that lets the little head to do all the thinking. Both and Grace like to cuss and raise their voice a lot, as if doing so would make them appear more adult. Sadly, it doesn’t.

In other words, the only reason to read this thing is the sex, but getting there also means having to put up with intellectually-deficient and immature characters as well as a dumb premise.

If you ask me whether you should read this thing, I’d have to ask back just how hard up you are for hot stuff. If you’re that hard up, well, have your fill. Just don’t look at me should you want to Do Bad Things to it after you’re done with it!
