Transylvania Express marks the end of the second season of this show, and thank the lords, because I have been waiting for this season to end, oh, five episodes ago.
Fortunately, this episode isn’t too bad.
Two unbelievably stupid young lads, Mike and Ben, are clearly not winning spelling bees anytime soon. They want to go surfing, but somehow, they end up in a snowy area in Austria because they think Australia is spelled that way or something. So, they board a train and find themselves facing against vampires. The usual.
While the two lads are unquestionably daft, the bright side is that their hur-hur so-stoopid brand of comedy doesn’t make me want to run a nail into my eardrums. The voice acting is fine, the pitch is fine, and the story is fine. There’s even a nice message about tolerance and acceptance at the end.
So yes, this episode is fine, and I’ll take that as a win.
This season started out fine with the promise of improving on the first season. Sure, in some ways it did in the beginning, but the people behind this show seemed to have stopped trying a few episodes ago. Well, I’ve stopped caring because of this, and now I can only exhale in relief that this season is over.
There’s a third season, which came on five years after this season finished airing. Let’s hope the “new” Tales from the Cryptkeeper won’t be as stale and musty as the first two seasons. Let me enjoy a blessed respite before I try to find out!
