Crossfire is one of the bigger first-person shooter franchises around, and I understand that it’s especially big in China. Since I’m not into that genre, however, I watch Crossfire: Good Conflict with zero knowledge or expectations of that episode.

However, this is another episode based on a first-person shooter game, and I can only wonder whether they can come up with a different story line other than various bands of people shooting at one another.

Here, a category three hurricane is about to sweep the town, and there is a state of emergency declared… so hey, there’s no better time for the Bravo team to take on a bunch of mercenaries over who gets to manhandle a shady fellow that has paid the mercenaries to protect him as he makes an important delivery.

This is actually a pretty entertaining episode, although I don’t have a clear idea as to why everyone is fighting over the “package” that the shady fellow has in his possession. That’s not a dirty thing, by the way, really. All that is said is that the package can trigger a war if it fell into the wrong hands.

If anything, I feel like I’m watching a snippet of a longer story, but then again, this is a common issue with this series.

Because of this, I don’t have any emotional stake as to which faction wins. Both factions are morally grey, and they all have impeccable aims unless the plot calls for them to go all Stormtroopers. Seriously, a sniper here can hit a target from a zillion miles away in a category three hurricane. That silly purple tart Widowmaker could only dream of such awesomeness.

So, all in all, it’s a pretty pleasant, if not exactly memorable, way to pass about 20 minutes.
