Chuck (and Melvin) and the Beanstalker is a sequel to Sleeping Beauty from the first season.
That’s right, the super annoying little brother Melvin and his bully of a big brother Prince Chuck is back, and I can only wonder why shows like this one, that are clearly meant to appeal to bullied kids everywhere, almost always portray those bullied kids as super annoying squeak-machines that are begging to be shoved into the locker more often.
This one clearly lifts its story out of Jack and the Beanstalk, but pads things out with incessant self-absorbed preening and asshole antics from Chuck and Melvin making nerve-grating noises. These two have a very annoying dysfunctional relationship as Melvin puts up with Chuck’s bullying and selfish antics despite whining and bleating about it.
Because these two take forever to actually go up the beanstalk, this episode is filled way too much pointless scenes of a bully and his victim engaging in what I can only assume is meant to be funny. Well, perhaps it is to an eight-old-year bully that relates to Chuck, I suppose.
Sadly, I lack the child-like sophistication to appreciate this episode. In fact, I find it a painful experience to sit through, like having to listen to nails on chalkboard each time anyone utters anything in this episode.
Anyway, this is one of the worst episodes ever in this show, and that’s saying something considering the overall quality of this show in general.
