The Texan Cowboy Secret Agent and My Secret Baby

by Phillys Tex O'Phile, historical (2000)
Sickofitall, $5.99, ISBN 0-906-33225-X

What brilliant characterization! Poignant, great humor, and a hero so manly he would make menopause a thing of history.

Studelly Blake Carrington hates all women after witnessing his mother throw away his precious blankie when he was just four. This emotional trauma has turned him into a mean loner in his TEXAN ranch. This intelligent man believes that all women are liars and blankie-throwers, and these women are good for one thing only.

Wimpina Blankielover is an independent girl who refuses to tell her father that she is not marrying nice, sensitive and rich Tony Loser because he doesn't make her pulse sing.

Feisty Wimpina meets Studelly when he mistakes her for a prostitute and deflowers this 26-year old widow of a much older man who taught her all men are evil. Wimpina realizes she is pregnant and flees to Nicaragua to hide her shame. This feisty independent woman then starts a Burn the Blankie! movement to aid in women's liberation movement. She meets Studelly, this time stumbling across him naked in a pool, and they make love, he thinking her the new nanny for his six TEXAN brats.

Part Mary Poppins, part Dallas, this breathless contemporary will have one singing the praises of everything cowboy. I especially love the innovative way the author uses twelve series of consecutive Big Misunderstandings to further the plot. The loud bickerings are impressively passionate and stormy, and the sweaty lovemaking sessions are only spice to savor as I anticipate the next wonderful Big Misunderstanding session.

Studelly is all I can want in a romance hero, for he is hung, macho, arrogant, hasty in judging women, and best of all, he treats an intelligent, feisty, spunky woman like Wimpina like a real man should. No communication nonsense for this man. Studelly is not your wimpy SNAG guy - he is a real man that gets all readers' pulse burning up.
