Okay, two white guys decide to write the script for 400 Boys, which features a near-entire black cast of voice actors, and it’s about violence, people killing one another, and, uh, peaceful protests? These are supposed to be the inclusive and progressive guys — the so-called good guys — but when they have to do something about black characters, they default to violence and thuggery?

Real smooth there, I have to say.

Basically, in some post-apocalyptic setting, rival gangs are behaving like they are in some kind of LARP, role-playing as samurais (don’t ask) and Grand Theft Auto rejects, but when a new faction arrives in the scene, they must set aside their differences, pause on committing violence on one another for 16 minutes which is the runtime of this episode, and commit violence on their new enemies instead.

That’s it. No back story, no characterization, nothing — just tune in, strap on the seat belts, and watch the carnage.

The violence is cool, I suppose, and while the art style can be considered polarizing, I dig it.

However, it’s all style and no substance, while seems to be the pattern of all the episodes in the fourth season of Love, Death & Robots so far. The whole point of this episode appears to be for me to be impressed by the flashy things than be entertained. It’s like watching some kind of audition reel for people that want to break into big time animation studios bad.

Oh well, at least it isn’t that bad, I suppose. Easy come, easy go.
